Daniel Sathler Biography

I started training in jiu-jitsu in 2008 when I was only 7 years old. My dad loved watching fights and wanted me to practice jiu-jitsu, which was very popular in our neighborhood. In the beginning, I got beat up a lot and didn’t enjoy it much, but with persistence and regular attendance, I started to see progress after seven months and decided to compete. I fell in love with the sport and built lasting memories with my family, who would come watch me and celebrate with me after matches! That’s what jiu-jitsu means to me—it brings loved ones together, and whether you win or lose, they’ll be there to support you.

I received my black belt 14 years later, in July 2022, after winning the Brown Belt Worlds. My mission is to keep improving and help spread the love for this art by teaching and supporting those who want to practice the gentle art.
